The educational ecosystem of British Management University and Maple Bear Canadian School has been awarded the ‘Brand of the Year – 2026’ prize for establishing one of Uzbekistan’s first full-cycle educational clusters, combining the best Canadian and British teaching methods – from nursery school through to higher education.

This project brings together an international nursery, school, preparatory programmes, higher education and professional development pathways into a single system of continuous learning — from early childhood through to career development — creating world-class opportunities at every stage of growing up. Bringing together the best practices from Canada and the UK within a single cluster in Uzbekistan opens doors to the world’s top universities and international companies.

First steps on the path to international education

The cluster’s educational journey begins with Maple Bear Canadian Kindergarten — an international nursery for children from the age of two. The approach is based on learning through play, exploration and daily communication. At Maple Bear, we believe that independence, emotional intelligence and a love of learning are formed at an early age. Therefore, English is used here not only as a subject but also as part of the everyday environment — during lessons, play and communication.

Particular attention is paid to bilingual education, which helps children develop communication skills, multitasking and critical thinking. Classes are limited to a maximum of 18 children, who are taught by a foreign teacher and a local assistant. Additional activities include swimming, football, dance, chess, art, gymnastics, tennis, music and pottery.

The Canadian approach to school education in Uzbekistan

After nursery, pupils continue their education at the Maple Bear Canadian School, where the Canadian education system – used in over 580 schools across 40 countries worldwide – is adapted to reflect Uzbekistan’s national standards and cultural characteristics. One of the key elements of the programme is learning through inquiry, skills development and critical thinking. Instead of rote learning, pupils are taught to analyse information, seek solutions and apply their knowledge in practice.

The educational complex notes that this approach helps children to become more engaged in the learning process and to develop an interest in learning. Great attention is paid not only to academic results, but also to the child’s emotional, social and creative development. The school’s aim is to create an environment in which children can feel confident, freely express their thoughts and realise their own potential.

How the transition to university education is structured

The next stage in the educational pathway is the BMU Foundation Programme — the first year of study at British Management University, accredited by The University of Reading, which ranks among the top 30 leading universities in the UK and the top 200 in the world rankings. The Foundation Programme helps students adapt to the British education system and the university learning format. At this stage, students develop the academic English language skills, analytical thinking and independent study skills required for a bachelor’s degree.

All teaching is conducted in English under the guidance of lecturers with international experience, making the transition to higher education smoother. The university also offers grants and scholarships covering between 20% and 100% of tuition fees, as well as scholarships ranging from 500,000 to 1,000,000 soums.

The British education system and dual degrees

From the second year onwards, British Management University offers dual-degree programmes in partnership with Queen Margaret University in the fields of finance, IT, management, logistics, marketing, PR, business analytics and sustainable development. Graduates receive dual degrees recognised internationally and nationally. The curriculum includes not only theory but also project work, case studies, research, presentations and team assignments, as used in the international academic environment and major companies.

BMU also focuses on students’ career development. The Career Development Centre assists with internships, consultations and engagement with employers. Among the companies where graduates work are KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, Uzum, Ipak Yuli Bank and other international and local organisations. In addition to academic studies, the university fosters a vibrant student community: the eco-campus features teaching buildings, a library, sports facilities, areas for events and clubs, a café, a hall of residence and leisure spaces. A nine-storey hall of residence with 376 places is available for students from other regions and countries.

Education that doesn’t end after university

After completing their bachelor’s degree, students can continue their studies on MSc and MBA programmes at British Management University, designed for professionals and the corporate sector. Today, the university offers programmes in accounting and finance, international management, business analytics, project management and educational leadership. From 2026, the university will launch new educational programmes and professional courses for professionals and companies.

BMU is the only authorised training partner of the Project Management Institute (PMI) in Uzbekistan and offers PMP® and CAPM® project management courses. British Management University and Maple Bear Canadian School are among the educational initiatives in Uzbekistan that promote an international approach to learning, a bilingual environment and modern academic programmes.
